Quality laminate is built to last — but a few simple habits keep it looking freshly installed for years. None of this takes effort. It’s mostly about what not to do.
Everyday cleaning
- Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. For most marks, warm water and a drop of mild soap is all you need.
- Dry after cleaning. Don’t let water sit, especially near edges and joints.
- Blot spills quickly. Turmeric, oil and strong colours are easiest to remove before they settle.
What to avoid
- Abrasive scrubbers and steel wool. They dull and scratch the surface.
- Harsh chemical cleaners. Bleach and strong solvents can discolour the finish.
- Standing water. The biggest long-term enemy of any board.
- Direct heat. Never place a hot pan straight onto the surface.
Treat the surface gently and it will look new far longer than you’d expect.
A few small habits that help
- Use chopping boards and coasters.
- Lift, don’t drag. Move appliances rather than sliding them.
- Check the edges now and then. Address lifted edge banding early.
That’s genuinely all it takes. If a surface ever needs refreshing or a repair, come in — we’re happy to advise.
