Feature walls with decorative panels

By The DSC Studio  ·  November 2025  ·  4 min read

One well-designed wall can carry an entire room. Decorative panels have made the statement feature wall achievable in almost any home, without heavy construction or a designer’s budget.

A feature wall works because it gives the eye somewhere to land. Done well, it adds depth, texture and a sense of intention. Done poorly, it overwhelms. The difference is almost always restraint.

The panels worth knowing

Louvers & fluted panels

Vertical grooves that catch light and cast gentle shadows. They add rhythm and height, making them ideal behind a TV or bed.

Charcoal panels

Eco-friendly, matte and refined, with a subtle texture that suits calm, contemporary rooms. Water and termite resistant.

Acrylic & highlighter panels

For drama. Bold textures, metallic accents and high-shine surfaces that turn a wall into the room’s centrepiece. Best used sparingly.

A feature wall should draw the eye, not shout at it.

Getting it right

  • Pick one wall. The wall the room naturally faces.
  • Keep the rest quiet. Surround it with calm, neutral surfaces.
  • Mind the scale. Bold patterns suit big rooms; tighter textures suit compact spaces.
  • Consider the light. Textured panels come alive under directional light.

Most installs take a day and need no wet work. Come see the textures in person.
